Facial_Masks_November_title_English

Facial masks are a not a skin care luxury, they are a necessity.  You don’t have to break the bank at a luxury spa – although treating yourself to an occasional spa day is a great idea!  A great option if you can’t (or won’t) pay top dollar for OTC solutions is to go the DIY route.  There are countless DIY recipes and other resources that can take you step by step through creating facial masks that will leave your skin smooth.  During cold winter months it is especially important to make sure that you are doing all you can to keep your skin properly moisturized.  The very best thing you can do for your skin is to make sure that your diet supports your skin care goals.  If you want beautiful skin it starts from within. Adequate nutrition in the form of nutritionally balanced meals and vitamin supplements such as DERMERA Skin Vitamins are a perfect combination to reveal skin that is more smooth, supple and has a more youthful glow.

Facial Masks to Keep Skin Hydrated

In a previous post we explained the difference between moisture and hydration. While moisture is applied to skin, hydration is the your skin’s ability to retain moisture.  Whether it is in the form of water (internal or external), topical applications or moisture absorbed from the air.  It is important to understand how your skin type and climate affect your ability to maintain beautiful skin.  You may have to swap out your light summer products and routines for something a little more substantial as the temperature drops.  We’ll walk you through the best ingredients and recipes for getting smoother skin that stays moisturized and hydrated this winter.

Radiant Skin Between Facial Masks

Take Your Vitamins

As much as spa treatments are a delight and treat for the skin, they don’t happen every day and they shouldn’t.  Luckily, a proper skin care routine and regular use of DERMERA Skin Vitamins will help your skin maintain a youthful, healthy appearance between your “me time”  treatments.

In addition to taking your Dermera Skin Vitamins, which work from the inside out, this dietary supplement is specially formulated for skin and body, to provide a potent blend of phytoceramides, astaxanthin and CoQ10.

Moisturize Your Skin

Well moisturized skin always looks healthiest.  Moisturizing your skin is essential to every skin care routine.  The goal of most treatments is to provide you with smooth, soft, healthy looking skin.

Natural Oil Cleansers

Most cleansers on the market will inevitably strip the skin of its natural oils which can cause skin to either become very dry or extra oily.  Whether your skin is oily, dry, or normal we all need oils in our skin to keep it looking youthful and vibrant.  Using natural oils such as olive oil, coconut oil or jojoba oil, you can cleanse your skin without over-drying it.  Natural oils are also great at removing all types of makeup, from mascara to lipstick.  Here are our top oils to add to your favorite astringents to cleanse your skin without drying.

Jojoba oil – Jojoba oil is similar to the oil that is naturally produced by our skin and helps to normalize any issues we may have.  It has natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which add moisture to skin while removing your makeup.  Jojoba oil is best for those with sensitive or dry skin.

Olive oil – Olive oil is known for its many different healing properties as well as its softening agents too.  For those with dry skin, it is one of the best natural ways to remove makeup.

Coconut Oil – Coconut oil is one of the most versatile oils around.  It can be used to remove makeup from your skin while working as a moisturizer at the same time.

Exfoliate

While hot baths might be a no-no, exfoliating your skin is a definite yes!  Exfoliation will slough away dry, dead skin cells, leaving behind soft, smooth skin that will allow your moisturizer to seep into your skin and keep the hydration intact.  Exfoliating your face and body 2-3 times a week with a gentle, non-abrasive scrub will help keep your skin soft and supple.  Gently use some exfoliant on your lips as well to not neglect them!   No matter the weather having a solid routine is the best thing that you can do for your skin. Moisture, exfoliation, and regular facial masks are key components to radiant, gorgeous skin.  Be prepared to make changes in your routine to reflect the changes in the seasons.  Doing so ensures that you are maximizing the effects of your products and facial masks whether your skin care solutions are store bought or DIY.
